Real Harmony and Real
Fun wouldn't be possible without the talented Directing
Staff of Gateway Chorus!
Unfailingly, these tremendous leaders and musicians ensure that
the musical product that is "Gateway" is forever being honed and
improved. Their creativity, teaching skills, knowledge and sense
of fun keep Gateway driven and a keep us moving ever forward
towards new goals and heights! |

LISA
McNeil (Greenough), Director
With an
Director and Choreographer like Lisa,
Gateway is bound to 'Go The Distance'! Being raised in a
military and Barbershop family
meant that Lisa had the rare
experience of enjoying a number of Sweet Adeline Choruses,
and waited patiently until she became a
full-fledged member at the age of 16 years old!
Since then, Lisa has been a member of Velvet Hills Chorus in
Colorado Springs, USA and Prairie Gold Chorus in Regina, SK...until
finally settling into her life in Edmonton, and her
Chorus...Gateway. Lisa has held a variety of positions over her
15 year stint starting out as the 'official rehearsal coffee
maker' (she was only 16 after all!!) and working her way up to
become a Board Member, Bass Section Leader, Choreographer and
now, Gateway's Assistant Director. With a keen ability to learn,
and then in turn, teach; and a 'quick wit' (to say the least),
Lisa is a valuable asset to Gateway's musical and visual growth.
She brings an endearing commitment and caring to her duties and
Chorus members alike - and we enjoy every minute of it.
Every remarkable group has a remarkable leader at the
helm, and Gateway Chorus is no exception! Marlene Greenough was the Director of Gateway Chorus for over 10 years now, and
in that time has directed Gateway to two Regional Championships
and a number of medalist performances. Gateway Chorus members are proud to call her Master
Director after the 2007 regional contest when we met our goal to
exceed the elusive 600 point mark!
MARLENE
Greenough, Associate Director
In her 29 years as a Sweet Adeline, Marlene has had the
opportunity to explore much of what the organization has to
offer. Having sung in 7 Choruses across Canada and the United
States, including the Mission Belles in San Antonio; Canadian
Showtime in Ottawa; Moosejaw Chorus in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan;
Vienna Falls in Fairfax, VA; Velvet Hills in Colorado
Springs; and Prairie Gold in Regina; Marlene has garnered a
wealth of knowledge, and know-how that allows her a unique
perspective that few other Sweet Adelines may ever experience!
Directing in 3 Choruses, and holding positions from
Choreographer to Makeup Chair and from Section Leader to
President, Marlene or "Mar" as she's affectionately called...has
learned the ropes from the inside out.

Family is an important part of Marlene's life, and music flows
as easily there as it does from the risers. Her children are
musically and artistically talented, and her daughter Lisa, has
been a Sweet Adeline since the age of 16! Lisa now shares
Marlene’s love of Sweet Adelines and Gateway Chorus as it’s
frontline Choreographer, Assistant Director, and much much more!
Gateway Chorus is honoured to have
someone of Marlene’s character and caliber at the helm, and when
asked what she'd dream about doing in the organization,
Marlene's unfailing answer is "I'm exactly where I want to
be"...and Marlene...from the heart of every member in
Gateway...we're glad you're there too.
