EDMONTON CHORUS WINS THIRD PLACE IN THE WORLD Gateway Chorus Wins 3rd Place Mid-Sized Chorus at International Competition
Edmonton, AB – October 27, 2009
Gateway Chorus, an all women’s barbershop chorus, traveled to Nashville, Tennessee this past week to compete at the Sweet Adeline International Harmony Classic Contest. Over 3,000 women from around the world competed and Edmonton’s Gateway Chorus earned 3rd Place Medal in the Mid-Sized Category keeping with the traditions set by many in the City of Champions.
Tuesday October 20, 2009 at 7:15 p.m. Gateway Chorus took the stage at the Sommet Centre in Nashville, Tennessee, USA . The chorus gave the performance of their lives. Gateway entertained the crowd with their interpretation of how Cupids earn their wings, including a “stupid cupid” that accidentally shot a married man, and an “advanced” cupid who shared her mature wisdom with the younger graduates.
Master Musical Director Marlene Greenough reported:

Gateway is no stranger to success having recently won their regional competition in Calgary, Alberta in both the mid-size and overall chorus categories, surpassing chorus representatives from British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Gateway Chorus is now beginning their preparation for their next international competition where they will represent the all Canadian Region 26 in October of 2010 in Seattle, Washington., USA.

EDMONTON CHORUS WINS IT ALL IN CALGARY, ALBERTA Gateway Chorus Wins Overall Gold in Regional Competition
Edmonton, AB – April 30, 2009
Gateway Chorus, an all women’s barbershop chorus, traveled to Calgary, Alberta this past weekend to compete in their Regional Contest. Over 500 women from 16 choruses competed and Gateway brought home the gold for the first time in over 5 years.
Saturday April 25, 2009 at 1:00pm gateway Chorus took the stage in the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary, Alberta and gave the performance of their lives. Gateway Chorus is very proud of this win and could not be more thrilled. This win for Gateway means an immediate invitation to the Sweet Adeline International Competition 2010 in Seattle, Washington.
Master Director Marlene Greenough reported "Gateway had a performance of a lifetime on the stage and came away double gold medal winners in both mid-size and overall categories. Our journey continues filled with joy and pride and Edmonton, The City of Champions can be justly proud of their newest musical Champions, Gateway Chorus."
“Gateway’s not done for the year yet though, they are also invited to compete internationally in Nashville, Tennessee this coming September. We were invited to this competition based on our contest scores from last year and are proud to represent western Canada with another chorus from Vancouver, British Columbia (Lionsgate Chorus), Regina, Saskatchewan (Prairie Gold Chorus) and 2 Western Canadian Quartets (Martini & Mojo).
